Timmy Gibson

Lead Pastor
Timmy Gibson
As the Lead Pastor, Timmy brings vitality and passion to the vision of Mercy Church. His heart is to help people develop a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ through the ministry of the local church. Timmy was raised in church in Kansas City and never saw himself as the stereotypical “pastor” type; he still feels this way today. He has always had a desire to help people have better lives, and what better way than being a pastor. He graduated Bible College in 1994 with a Degree in Biblical Studies and just a month after he graduated he married his college sweetheart, Jana, and they have two beautiful children, Shaeylea and Vandon. They enjoy life very much and love what they do here at Mercy Church.

Geoff Lundy

Associate Pastor
Geoff Lundy
Geoff Lundy is very excited and passionate about Mercy Church. Born and raised in southern California, it was quite a journey to attend Central Christian College in McPherson, KS. During that time, he met and married his lovely wife, Devyn, who is a Kansas City native. They have a daughter, Shaylee, and a son, Will, and greatly enjoy the adventure of parenting. Geoff is a sports fanatic and loves the Dodgers, the Lakers, and of course the Chiefs. He plays guitar and loves music, and loves seeing people become true Disciples of Christ.

Michele Huff

Accountant
Michele Huff
As the accountant for Mercy Church, Michele combines her love of people and numbers! She is a native California girl and that is where she met and married the love of her life, Doug. They transplanted to Kansas City in 2000. Their beautiful son Ethan was adopted from Ethiopia in 2009, and they are currently in the process of adopting a baby girl from China. Not having been raised in church Michele spent most of her young life journeying through many of the world?s religions searching for God. Michele says the best thing that ever happened to her was accepting Christ at a crusade 15 years ago, she loves to read she is most happy spending time with her family and friends and being a part of Mercy Church.

Jana Gibson

Kid’s Life Director
Jana Gibson
Jana is a proud Okie and OSU Cowboys fan. Growing up her mother owned dance studios which started her life long love of dance. She spent a portion of her life in Cushing, Oklahoma (a very small town – the population sign was updated when she moved!) where she started attending church on a regular basis. She sometimes misses the laid back feel of the country life, but says she wouldn’t trade her life now for anything. She still loves the outdoors, especially horseback riding when she visits her dad. She also loves playing sports, mentoring women, spending time with her family and friends and dreams of one day earning her pilot’s license. Jana graduated Bible College in 1993 which is where she met Timmy. By and large, Jana’s biggest joy in life comes from her husband and two children.

Pete Lucas

Music Director
Pete Lucas
Growing up a minister’s son, Pete was always involved in church. From an early age, his love for music and playing various instruments provided him with opportunities to be a part of worship teams. From 1996 until 2001, Pete played guitar and bass at Grace Christian Fellowship in Shawnee, KS. In 2001, he became their youth worship leader. From 2002 until 2005, Pete played bass at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, a megachurch in Overland Park, KS. Pete joined the worship team at Mercy Church in 2007 as a bass player, and became music director in December of 2010. He lives in Olathe, KS with his wife, Jenna.

Christen Blando

Worship Leader
Christen Blando
It is no surprise that Christen loves music, and in particular, songs of a Christian nature. Christen’s Father was the Choir Director of Countryside Christian Church in Mission, Kansas throughout Christen’s childhood and teen years, and her Mother began the Cherub Choir, a ministry for young children to learn and perform the oldie but goodie songs from Christian Childhood. By the age of three Christen sang regularly with the children’s choir at church and continued to sing at church into adulthood. It became a lifelong dream of Christen’s to work alongside other musicians toward the common goal of making music in whatever arena would allow her to do so. As a result, she’s been a part of several choirs, worship teams, has been an accompanist for other musicians on the piano, worked as a vocal coach, and had the time of her life when asked to work on a CD compilation with a very talented friend a few years ago. It’s been the joy of Christen’s existence that she’s had the opportunity for the last 18 years to combine her two greatest loves: Worshiping Christ and Music. There’s nothing more satisfying than putting aside “self” and “performance” to focus all we have in song to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Nathan Irby

Worship Leader
Nathan Irby
“THRIVE in the place you are PLANTED!” is my vision and attitude for ministry. And what ministry you ask? Worship Ministry. I’m Nate Irby, an undergrad from Manhattan Christian College. I’ll be graduating this December with a Bachelors of Science/Worship Leading. My passion is connecting the congregation to God through music. I play many instruments, but my prime ones are: guitar/vocals. I enjoy playing sports and watching sports! ROCK CHALK JAY HAWK! But I also like to read. Who would have guessed that!?!?!? I’m super stoked to be a part of Mercy Church and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us this year.
